To provide Ministerial leadership for The Word, Sacraments, and Pastoral Care according to the Policies, Procedures, and Traditions of The United Church of Canada in each particular pastoral Charge.
-To preside, to preserve order, to take the vote and to announce the decisions of the council
-Primarily, the Chair is a facilitator
-They promote the effective and efficient operation of the Church Council as a whole and provide leadership in ensuring that the Faith Family is appropriately represented
-A signing officer on behalf of the congregation as a whole
-In partnership with the Treasurer, oversee and maintain the operational finances of the Church
Coordinate the budget process in conjunction with all committees for presentation to Church Council for approval, including timelines -Manage the weekly Sunday counting process -Establish and manage appropriate internal financial controls -Ensure an appropriate annual review is performed -Present Council-approved annual budget to congregation at the Annual Congregational Meeting for final approval -Responsible for the following equipment: Communication Systems (Telephones), Computer Systems/Network, Photocopier, Office Supplies
- Ensure the proper maintenance of all church property
Supervise and direct the Custodian's work
- Participate and assist with annual performance Review of appropriate staff
-Ensure that all appropriate Health & Safety regulations are being followed including: first-aid kits and Hazardous product storage
-Responsible for: Health Inspections, Lift inspection/maintenance, Fire safety regulations (Fire Extinguishers), snow removal, Lawn care, Physical Security, asset Inventory, A/V equipment maintenance
-Being available for consultation and support for matters involving the pastoral charge staff
-Overseeing the relationship of the pastoral charge staff to each other and to people in the congregation -Regularly reviewing the working conditions, responsibilities and compensation of all pastoral charge staff -Making any recommendations needed as a result of these reviews to the governing body -Revising position descriptions of pastoral charge staff as needed -Conducting annual performance reviews of the pastoral charge staff Ensuring pastoral charge staff make use of opportunities for continuing educations that they have been given -Maintaining close contact with the presbytery Pastoral Relations Committee
- Oversee spiritual growth throughout the church
-Review and approve curriculum and materials used by all spiritual growth groups including Sunday school
-Recruit and support all leaders for Christian development groups
-Work in cooperation with other committees for special events throughout the year (Birds, Buds and Babies, Children's Services, etc.)
-Maintain all libraries including annual subscriptions
-Oversight of nursery operation and staffing.
-Keep up-to-date records as well as an audit trail for all transactions
-Protecting the organization against fraud and theft, ensuring safe custody of money and prompt banking.
-make sure the board understands its financial obligations
-make sure the organization complies with tax regulations, such as HST, payroll tax, etc.
-review all internal processes and reporting methods at least annually
-provide Council with up-to-date financial reports.
-Responsible for strategic and long-term visioning activities
-Manages the "Living Legacy Fund"
-Manages special stewardship initiatives that encourage all members/adherents to contribute their time, talent and treasure to further St. Paul's vision.
In partnership with Ministry staff
-Organize and co-ordinate worship services
-Approve use of sanctuary — as required
-Maintain the sanctuary with pew supplies, flowers, banners, hymn books, bibles, etc.
-Coordinate the provision of Communion and Baptism
-Maintain a list of individuals available to assist in serving Communion Recruit, train and support ushers and greeters
In partnership with the Treasurer and Secretary
-Provide direction to Treasurer for appropriate payments for pulpit or music relief.
-Provide direction to Secretary for bulletin announcements as required and correspondence for thank-you notes
-Oversee and approve use of the Sanctuary, as required Submit an annual budget.
-Prepare and oversee the annual Mission budget, with recommendations to the congregation regarding programs/missions to be supported.
-A resource for the Music & Worship Committee for pulpit relief.
-Develop opportunities for community involvement and education — social action and social issues.
Develop opportunities for the gift of time vs. the gift of money
-Coordinating body for scheduling Fellowship events within the Church.
-Work in partnership with all committees and groups for Fellowship events.
- Coordinate the Church's Photo Directory every 5 years.
The Fellowship Committee works in partnership with all the committees and groups within the church to support and provide help for special events and times of fellowship outside of the church services. We help plan, organize and or host gatherings that encourage our church family to come together in fellowship to help us grow and deepen our relationships with one another.
